Maple Trees

Maples are among the most common yard trees, and questions about them usually start because something looks wrong: black spots in August, leaves that scorch at the edges, or a tree that is slow to leaf out in spring. The good news is that many maple problems look worse than they are.

If you are not sure what you are looking at, start with the symptom-by-symptom maple guide. If you are planting, check how far from the house a maple should go before you dig.
